A Toronto man and woman were arrested for shoplifting in Guelph Monday after officers discovered a bag which had been specially modified to commit the crime, say Guelph police.

Approximately 2 p.m. police were called to a business on Eramosa Road. A staff member observed two people concealing a large quantity of vitamins and other items in a bag and leave without paying.

They were stopped outside the store and arrested. Police recovered the stolen items from a bag which had been modified so the stolen items would not set off the store’s security scanners.

A 43-year-old woman and 28-year-old man from Toronto are charged with theft under $5,000 and possessing stolen property under $5,000.
