Prohibited driver gives son's name and birth date to police

A Guelph man was arrested and had his vehicle impounded after falsely claiming to be his own son.

Just before 10 p.m. Saturday, officers on routine patrol stopped a vehicle as it left a parking lot on Silvercreek Parkway South. Queries revealed the registered owner is a prohibited driver.

Upon being stopped the driver provided a name and date of birth later determined to be his son’s. A 46-year-old Guelph man is charged with driving while prohibited and obstructing police. He will appear in a Guelph court Feb. 24. His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
