A Guelph man faces assault and criminal harassment charges after an employee of a downtown business complained to police about repeated unwanted contact.

Police were called to speak to the victim Tuesday morning. She described several instances of unwanted contact at her workplace, including one incident when a man grabbed her arm and tried to make her sit down with him for lunch. The man has also been following her at work and trying to contact her via social media, though the victim has never told him her name.

Just after 5 p.m. Tuesday the man was located close to the victim’s workplace and arrested.

A 37-year-old man is charged with assault and criminal harassment. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
