If someone calls you claiming to be from local emergency services and asks for a donation, don’t make one, say police.

In a social media post Monday afternoon, Guelph police state it has received reports of residents who have been contacted in this way.

“Please be advised emergency services WILL NOT call you to ask for money,” the post states. “If you receive such a call, just hang up.”

Throughout Ontario, police, paramedics and firefighters are paid for through property taxes.
