NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH POLICE SERVICE
************************
The Guelph Police Service has recently had reports of a new type of Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam. Victims are receiving calls from the “CRA” but the display on their phone shows 'Guelph Police Service.' The suspect then advises the victim that they owe money for taxes and if they don’t pay, they will be arrested. Furthermore, the victim is asked to pay via an iTunes card, gift card or electronic wire transfer.

The Guelph Police Service does not have 'CRA Agents' working in the organization. If you receive a call from the 'CRA' and call display shows 'Guelph Police Service', hang up immediately. Also, be advised that the Canada Revenue Agency would never accept funds in the form of gift cards, etc.
