Stabbing in city's south end Monday

A Guelph male faces assault and weapons charges following a stabbing in the city’s south end Monday night, reports Guelph police.

Emergency services were called around 10:15 p.m. to a report of a male in medical distress at an address on Stone Road West. Officers arrived to find an adult male who had sustained a significant injury to his arm. He was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigation revealed a number of parties known to each other were involved in a physical altercation, during which the male was stabbed with a knife.

A 52-year-old Guelph male is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of failing to appear in court. He will appear in a Guelph bail court Tuesday.
