A Guelph woman has been arrested after two employees of a south end business were assaulted by a customer last Saturday, report Guelph police.

Police say a woman selected a suitcase from the shelves of a business on Stone Road West and began walking towards the exit. When she was confronted by staff she dropped the suitcase and left the store.

A short time later she returned to the store and began walking around with a cart full of reusable shopping bags she had brought with her. As she tried to leave the store an employee asked her to open the bags, suspicious she may have stolen something. The woman charged with the employee with her cart and uttered a death threat, before leaving the store with the suitcase she had previously abandoned.

Two employees followed her outside. The woman swung the suitcase towards them, causing the employees to step back and return to the store. No physical injuries were reported. The woman was identified through video surveillance and arrested Wednesday.

A 26-year-old Guelph woman is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, uttering death threats and theft under $5,000. She was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
