Suspicious vehicle investigation leads to major drug seizure

On April 12, 2018, at approximately 11 p.m., Guelph police officers were on routine patrol in the area of Waterloo Avenue and Dublin Street. Officers observed two suspicious vehicles and initiated an investigation. Investigation alleges that the licence plates on one of the vehicles, a white Pontiac, was flagged as stolen.

Officers approached both vehicles in an attempt to identify the occupants of the vehicles and a gold Toyota, which was parked adjacent to the white Pontiac, sped away. Officers made no attempt at stopping the gold Toyota and have no further descriptions of it or the occupants.

A male occupant of the white Pontiac was spoken to and advised he would be placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. After a brief struggle, the male was placed under arrest.

Investigation lead to the seizure of a significant amount of items that are indicia of drug trafficking, such as: knives, scales, replica handguns and ammunition.

Furthermore, there was a significant amount of drugs seized that are believed to be: cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, heroin / fentanyl, marihuana, cannabis resin.

In total, there was over $10,500 in cash seized. The street value of drugs seized is estimated to be over $100,000.

A 38 year old Guelph male has been charged with possession of stolen property and six counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was held for a bail hearing.
