Thieves target Toyotas in east end neighbourhood

Four Toyota Highlanders were stolen from an east end neighbourhood in a single night.

Only one has been recovered.

Police report that shortly after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, a Summit Ridge Drive resident reported her 2022 Highlander was stolen from the driveway overnight.

It was located a short time later near Summerfield Drive and McNulty Lane in the south end. A window had been smashed and part of the interior ripped apart to expose several wires.

The vehicle was held for forensic examination.

Also taken that night – late Tuesday or early Wednesday – were three Highlanders were taken in the same neighbourhood. None of those vehicles have been found.

An attempt was made to take a fifth Highlander just down the street from one of the other thefts. In that case, surveillance video caught a small, black SUV and a small, white SUV circling the area with a number of individuals at times exiting the vehicles and approaching driveways.

Two of the suspects are described as possible females, with brown skin. One had light brown hair in a ponytail that went down to her buttock areas.

Both wore a black facemask at the time. One wore a white hoodie and grey sweatpants, while the other had on a black hoodie and black pants.
