Three face impaired driving in unrelated incidents

One was stopped at a RIDE check, the other two were discovered by police when they responded to reports of a disturbance

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Dec. 8, 2019, at approximately 1 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence located on Flannery Drive in the Town of Fergus.

Officers mediated the situation and guests of the residence agreed to stay at a hotel and leave by way of a cab due to their level of intoxication. Police returned to the residence to retrieve property that had been left behind and when they went back outside they observed a red pickup truck being operated by the same intoxicated person that they were just dealing with. Officers flagged the vehicle down and the driver was placed under arrest.

Greg Desaulniers, 27 years old of Brantford, has been charged with Impaired and Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 31, 2019.

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Dec. 8, 2019, at approximately 1 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence on Parkview Lane in Rockwood.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver of a motor vehicle that was parked in the driveway with the engine running. Police determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and a Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The accused was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Jan. 10, 2020.

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Dec. 8, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Expressway at Wellington Road 34 in Puslinch Township. At approximately 12:05 a.m. the driver of a passenger vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Thomas Andrew Stephen, 49 years old of Cambridge, has been charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Jan. 10, 2020.
