Guelph Police responded to 222 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Guelph assists in locating missing female
On Jan. 29, 2020 at 1:07 p.m., the Guelph Police Service were contacted in regards to a missing 21-year-old Guelph female. She was last seen in the area of the Guelph General Hospital at 9 a.m.

During the course of the search for the female, police reached out to the citizens of the City of Guelph for assistance, posting a picture and a description of her on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The social media posts were widely shared by a significant number of community members, and the female was ultimately found at a restaurant located near the intersection of Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North in the City of Guelph.

The Guelph Police Service would like to thank Guelph for stepping up and helping to locate this female.
 
Female arrested for stealing alcohol
On Jan. 29, 2020 at 10:36 a.m., an adult female was observed shoplifting $139.35 worth of alcohol from a store located near the intersection of Scottsdale Drive and Stone Road West in the City of Guelph. The female left the store before she could be stopped.

Further investigation revealed that this female was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000.

At 1:42 p.m., police located the female in the downtown core of the City of Guelph and she was subsequently arrested.

A 35-year-old Guelph female has been charged with:
    •    Theft under $5,000 x2
    •    Possession of stolen property under $5,000

She will appear in court on March 10, 2020.

Safe stolen during residential break-in
Some time on Jan. 28, 2020, a residence located near Edinburgh Road North and Paisley Road in the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items were taken including a safe.
