Guelph Police responded to 156 calls for service

The folowing news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Failing to appear in court leads to numerous charges
On March 13, 2020, an adult male failed to re-attend court in regards to the following charges:
    •    Possession of stolen property under $5,000 x7
    •    Possess identity documents x10
    •    Mischief over $5,000
    •    Use of credit card x2
    •    Forcible entry

On the morning of March 23, a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Huron Street was entered. The vehicle permit and insurance card were taken.

On March 25 at 11:48 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team located the male at a commercial plaza located near the intersection of Willow Road and Dawson Road. He was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed the above mentioned permit and insurance card.

A 49-year-old Guelph male has been additionally charged with:
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking
    •    Possession of stolen property under $5,000

He will appear in court on July 5.

Numerous items taken during residential break-in
Some time overnight on March 24, 2020, the garage of a residence located near the intersection of Kortright Road East and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items were taken including three bicycles and a DEWALT drill. Entry was gained as the garage had been left open.

Theft from vehicle leads to credit card fraud
Some time between 6 and 6:45 a.m. on March 25, 2020, a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Fountain Street West and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph was entered. A wallet was taken.

At 6:45 and 6:57 a.m., a credit card from the wallet was then used at a convenience store located in the downtown core to purchase $25 worth of merchandise.

Two more attempts were made to use the credit card at the same store at 7:41 and 7:42 a.m. to purchase $60.43 worth of merchandise, however the card had already been cancelled.

Numerous thefts from vehicles
Some time between 1 p.m. on March 22 and 10 a.m. on March 25, 2020, a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Edinburgh Road North and Paisley Street in the City of Guelph was entered. A tin containing coins was taken.

Some time between 11:01 p.m. on March 23 and 7:01 a.m. on March 25, 2020, a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Kortright Road East and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items were taken including coins and a 407 Transponder. Entry was gained as a vehicle door was left unlocked.
