Toronto man accused of driving twice the speed limit

On Sunday Nov. 18, 2018 at approximately 5 p.m, a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a grey SUV at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 160 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least double.

Twenty-year-old Mohammed Hassan of Toronto has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Dec. 19, 2018.

His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
