Traffic stop finds suspect wanted on two arrest warrants

He was wanted in both incidents for theft under $5,000

On March 8, 2018, while on routine patrol, at approximately 11:15 p.m., a Guelph police officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Woodlawn Road and Hanlon Parkway. Investigation revealed that the driver was wanted for two separate incidents. The following is a summary of those incidents:

On Feb. 1, 2018, Guelph police initiated a shoplifting investigation involving a store in the south end of Guelph. The investigation led to the identification of a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for the suspect relevant to the charges of theft under $5,000, breach of probation and breach of Recognizance Order.

On Feb. 17, 2018, Guelph police initiated a shoplifting investigation involving another store in the south end (different from the incident listed above). Again, investigation lead to the identification of the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for the suspect relevant to the charges of theft under $5,000 and breaching an Order of Recognizance.

As a result of the traffic stop, a 25-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with breaching an Order of Recognizance and the charges related to the arrest warrants. He was held for a bail hearing.
