In the last 24 hours, the Guelph Police Service have dealt with 206 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Two unrelated fraud incidents
On Monday, April 16, 2018 at approximately 5:20 p.m., Guelph police were called to a Canadian financial services company, where there was a report of a male attempting to cash a fraudulent cheque. Police located the male, identified him and found that he was wanted for an outstanding warrant. The male was arrested for the warrant and additionally charged with uttering a forged document and possession of stolen property. The 52-year-old Guelph male was held for a bail hearing.  

On April 12, 2018, security at a department store on Silvercreek Parkway North initiated an investigation into fraudulent activity. Security officers were able to identify the suspect in the incident. On April 16, 2018, Guelph police were notified of their investigation. The suspect, a male youth, is alleged to have fraudulently returned items. At approximately 9:10 p.m., the male youth was located and arrested. He was charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000 and breaching his YCJA (Youth Criminal Justice Act) probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.

Downtown theft
On April 16, 2018 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Guelph police were called to a business located in the downtown core, where there was a report of a theft. The suspect in this incident was quickly located and arrested. The 28-year-old Guelph male is alleged to have stolen items from the store. The male was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, breaching an Officer in Charge Undertaking and two counts of breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.

Break and enter
On April 16, 2018, Guelph Police went to a Rogers Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and stole items.
