Two women die in early morning Guelph house fire

The 911 call came in at 12:40 a.m. Monday

Guelph police report that two women died in an early-morning house fire Monday.

Police say that approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday a 911 call was received regarding a house fire at the Edinborough Place townhouse complex at 383 Edinburgh Rd. S., between College Avenue and Stone Road.

Emergency responders attended the scene, and the Guelph Fire Department was able to put out the fire. Two women who lived in the home succumbed to injuries as a result of the fire. Two other occupants were able to escape and were treated at hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. 

At this time the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been contacted and will be investigating with the assistance of the Guelph police and the Guelph Fire Department.  This investigation is ongoing.
