Victim calls police after spotting own stolen vehicle

A Guelph man faces charges after he was caught sitting in a stolen vehicle Friday morning.

Approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday, a Ford Escape SUV was reported stolen from a residence near downtown. An hour later the owner called to report she saw her vehicle parked behind a business on Edinburgh Road North. Officers arrived and located a male sitting in the driver’s seat.

A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000 and breaching probation. He will appear in bail court Tuesday.
