Wanted man causes disturbance downtown

Disturbance in downtown area – male arrested

On the 11th of May, 2019 at approximately 2 p.m., officers responded to the report of a male causing a disturbance on Carden Street.

Police searched the area and located the male on Farquhar Street.

Further investigation revealed that this male was wanted by the Peel Regional Police Service. The 20-year-old male was arrested on the strength of the warrant, and turned over to Peel Regional Police.

Suspicious males in south end business – two arrests made

On the 11th of May, 2019 at approximately 8 a.m., two males were observed attempting to make a purchase at the self check-out of a grocery store located on Clair Road.

The loss prevention officer recognized these male as (allegedly) being the responsible parties of fraudulent purchases in the past. Police were contacted to investigate, and located the males at a neighbouring business.

It was discovered that one of the males was on conditions not to be in the company of the second male. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that this male was in possession of stolen credit cards.

The 26-year-old male was arrested for breach of probation and possession of stolen property. The second male, a 35-year-old from Toronto, was also arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and use stolen credit card. Both males were held for a bail hearing.

Police incidents from the last 24 hours

The Guelph Police Service responded to 207 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
