A single-vehicle crash over the weekend has led to a plethora of charges for a Guelph woman.

Police were called to a crash on Rhonda Road just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, and located an unoccupied vehicle that hit a tree.

Police say a witness saw a woman get out of the vehicle with a bottle of alcohol before police arrived, and went into a home nearby.

Police went to the home and found the woman, who was showing signs of impairment. She was arrested and brought to the police station, but the woman refused to give a breath sample multiple times.

The 26-year-old later complained of having a medical issue, and was taken to hospital.

However, police say she became belligerent and bit a police officer on the finger.

Throughout all of it, police discovered the woman was wanted for failing to appear in court, doesn't have insurance and is a suspended driver.

Charges include impaired driving, failing to provide a breath sample, assaulting police, failing to attend court, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, driving while suspended and driving without insurance.

Her licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded, both for 90 days.

It was one of two impaired driving arrests made over the weekend by Guelph police.

The other saw a 40-year-old man charged early Saturday morning. Police say around 5:35 a.m., officers were called after being notified of a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road near Willow Road and Bonar Place, and the driver was asleep inside.

Police say officers detected a strong odour of alcohol, and the man failed a roadside test.

Once brought to the station, officers confirmed the man had twice the legal limit in his system.

His licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for a week.
