A Guelph woman faces three counts of obstructing justice after allegedly providing a fake name during several interactions with police.

According to a news release, police were investigating an unrelated matter downtown at about 11 a.m. on Monday when they spoke with a woman who refused to properly identify herself. She was detained and eventually identified through police records, which revealed she was wanted for failing to attend court.

While held by police, the woman provided different dates of birth.

Her true name and birth date were learned through investigation and police determined she had provided a false name when arrested by Guelph officers in September and November.

In addition to the obstruction charges, the woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
