Word of advice: Don't butt dial police if you are a wanted man

A Guelph man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after accidentally calling 911 early Thursday, Guelph police report.

Approximately 12:10 a.m. police received an accidental 911 call. A calltaker spoke to a man, who identified himself and explained he did not mean to call. Investigation revealed the phone’s owner was wanted for failing to attend court on assault and other charges.

Officers attended an address in the downtown and located the male standing outside. A 48-year-old Guelph man faces a further charge of failing to appear.
