ARTHUR – The region’s largest active long-term care outbreak continues to grow in linked cases and deaths from COVID-19.

As of Monday, the COVID outbreak at Caressant Care Arthur has grown to a total of 92 linked cases between both the long-term care and retirement home sections.

Data from WDG Public Health shows the long-term care side has had 32 cases in residents, 23 cases in staff and two deaths. The retirement home wing has 25 cases in residents, 12 in staff and one death.

Last week, Caressant Care Arthur had 65 cases linked to the outbreak and two deaths.

North Wellington Health Care Corp., who operate two hospitals in Wellington County, had been called in to voluntarily take over management in response to the growing outbreak.

The purpose of the management takeover is to stop the outbreak, make sure care needs are met and enhance services and staffing to ensure future outbreaks can be contained.
