Plastic film held in place with duct tape was the solution for this driver whose front windshield was missing

A driver's solution to a car problem has clearly not impressed the Ontario Provincial Police.

Perhaps clinging to the notion that they could stretch their vehicle maintenance dollar, a motorist was pulled over in eastern Ontario for using plastic wrap as a replacement windshield.

The OPP say the driver was charged in Prescott, Ont., on Monday after being spotted with plastic film stretched across the spot where a glass windshield would normally be.

The plastic wrap was being held in place with duct tape, according to photos posted by police. The glass edge of a smashed-out windshield appeared to still be on the car.

"If you have ever asked yourself if plastic wrap would make a suitable window replacement, the answer is most definitely 'NO'," OPP East Region said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The driver was charged with operating an unsafe vehicle.
