This coming Sunday, Sept. 20, would have marked the 23rd annual Taste of Guelph – a garden party fundraising event that’s raised more than $600,000 in the past five years alone to support patient care and equipment purchases at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph.

In March, St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation made the difficult decision to cancel the event to protect the health and safety of our Guelph community amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of the cancellation, the event has continued to raise significant funds for St. Joseph’s.

“We’re inspired and humbled that so many of our generous Taste of Guelph sponsors have chosen to change their traditional event sponsorships into outright donations to St. Joseph’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund. Together, our sponsors have contributed nearly $70,000 to support the infection control initiatives and personal protective equipment we need to continue to protect our patients, residents and team of caregivers from the COVID-19 virus,” says Jennifer Hall, Vice-President, Development at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation.

St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation understands how much our community is missing the food, fun and friendship the Taste of Guelph event has brought to the grounds of the Health Centre for so many years, so they worked with 20-year Taste of Guelph participant, Cox Creek Cellars, to provide a recipe so our community can craft a signature cocktail in the comfort and safety of their own home and enjoy a little taste of Tate of Guelph this weekend.

Nothing says fall like crisp apples and warm spices. Enjoy!
