Fundraising for the Rotary Club of Guelph will be a little different this year.
The annual Lobsterfest fundraiser usually hosts 400 guests who participate in a dinner and dance at the Italian Canadian Club Guelph. This year, the club is offering meals to go on Sept. 26.
It also began its online auction on Sept. 11 and will continue until Sept. 18.
“The fundraising this year has obviously taken a hit and this is one way we can continue the work of Rotary and continue to connect with the community even when we’re not able to dine and dance,” said Marguerite Campbell, a volunteer with the Rotary Club of Guelph.
“For 40 years Rotary of Guelph has been cooking and serving lobsters to the community and they are not letting Covid-19 stop them! It’s also Guelph Rotary’s centennial year, so it’s a GO!”
Guests may select one of two meals prepared by chefs at the Italian Canadian Club Guelph which include a lobster roll or St. Louis style BBQ ribs with a potato salad, coleslaw, dill pickles and cherry cheesecake.
Meals are to be ordered by Sept 17 here and will be ready for pickup on Sept. 26 through drive-by pickup at the Italian Canadian Club Guelph.
Meals priced at $75 include a donation to the Rotary Club of Guelph. Those who require meals delivered are asked to contact the Rotary Club of Guelph directly.
“This year, with a focus on health and wellbeing, we’re supporting local families, frontline workers in the pandemic, and well as many other programs and projects, both locally and internationally,” said Campbell.
“Two new projects we committed to this year are for Water & Sanitation, one in an Ontario First Nations community and one in Uganda.”
