The following letter to the editor from reader A. Dreer was submitted in response to our story $500K Federal grant will help light up more downtown buildings.
$500,000 to light up Guelph? So this is how our tax dollars are twiddled away.
We are told to conserve energy. Buildings lit up at night? Is that necessary?
We are told to turn the lights off! Upper floors of business buildings should not even have their inside lights on at night.
This $500,000 is probably a fraction of what the big cities got.
I wonder how much government aid Toronto businesses got to keep their lights on, enhancing their highrise towers.
Ask the short staffed, overworked medical professionals if they would like to look up at lit-up buildings on their way home from their late shift!
