GuelphToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Pat Fung in regards to the police headquarters project:

How can the City be so tone deaf on the Police HQ project.  To have a staff person say "our rigorous project management processes allowed us to navigate a challenging situation to a successful outcome" is a ludicrous statement to make when the project is 3 years late and millions of dollars over budget.

If this is an example of the City's rigorous management process we are in BIG trouble if in fact the library or the South End Community Centre projects forge ahead.

The City has consistently proven it has not been able to manage large projects (eg. City Hall fiasco and Police HQ).

“We know the project took longer than expected; we learned a lot about the additional complexities when renovating an occupied building, and our rigorous project management processes allowed us to navigate a challenging situation to a successful outcome and a building we can be proud of,” said Ken VanderWal, the project’s manager, in a news release.
