GuelphToday received the following letter from Gordon Truscott regarding the closure of the group adult day program at ARC Industries:

Dear Editor

I sympathize with those concerned about the closure of ARC Industries. Residents of Guelph should not be denied a place to go, work and socialize.

I understand that ARC began in a church basement before more suitable facilities could be put up? Apparently the bugaboo arose over payment of the clients.  Well, that's easily fixed.

Start up a new organization and invite volunteers to work in it. These could be the former clients of ARC Industries. They could work on various projects, but the emphasis would be on the social life of those participating.

I volunteer for a project and get paid nothing - well actually we are fed sumptuously with excellent food.

I hope that a little ingenuity and people working together can produce a place similar to ARC Industries, and maybe exactly the same in many ways.

Yours truly,

Gordon Truscott
