GuelphToday received the following letter about the homelessness situation from reader Michael Zacharewicz.

One thing I noticed is we want to help people in our society but we don't want to talk about anything uncomfortable.

The mental health and addiction crisis doesn't go away when we get those people housed. In fact, I would imagine that no mental health support and housing would end up in a demolished house.

So in order to get some growth, we have to be able to look at the difficult situations in order to address the core issues. I don't feel society is ready to work on the core issues.

Do those people all want housing? It feels like they would prefer to stay medicated on the street than deal with the trauma they are trying to cover.

Maybe you all can prove me otherwise.

Thanks for reading.
