GuelphToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Elia Mazzawi in regards to the Ontario government's recent decision to scrap licence plate sticker fee:
**************************
Regarding the sticker refunds,

Consider this math as well. The people who no longer need to spend 3 hrs to line up and renew the stickers will have productivity gains of at least minimum wage 15 x 3 = $45

And also we will need fewer Service Ontario staff to renew these stickers, which will cut the government labour costs.

These administrators will now go get jobs in the private sector. We are at record low unemployment and have a labour shortage so they will find jobs. And once they are employed in the private sector they will contribute to our economy and also pay income tax both of which will come back to the provinces bottom line.

So you can't see it as simply $330 of revenue lost.

Elia Mazzawi
