GuelphToday received the following letter from the Guelph chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women commending the actions of a woman who was the victim of anti-Asian hate locally in late-March.

GuelphToday (March 29th) reported that a young woman (initials reported as AS) had been the object of anti-Asian harassment while walking in the south end of Guelph on Sunday, March 28th. Now we learn that the 21-year-old Guelph male perpetrator of this harassment was warned by the police about his behaviour, cautioned that he could face criminal harassment charges, and then arrested as the police became aware of his involvement in other racist incidents. We congratulate AS for speaking out about this event and reporting it to the police. Her courageous action helps other victims. It also shows that all of us should be alert and call out racist incidents in our community.
