LETTER: The cenotaph is where Remembrance Day should be marked at 11 a.m.

GuelphToday received the following letter from Rob Jones regarding the fact there is no official event at 11 a.m. on Remembrance Day at the cenotaph.

While it is very respectful of the City of Guelph to support Remembrance Day at the Sleeman Centre, we find it hard to believe there were no events planned for 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, at the Cenotaph on Woolwich. This is the true location where our fallen should be remembered at the appropriate time. The appropriate time being 11:00 a.m.

Some 300 of us gathered there, the correct location rather than supporting the Styrofoam Cenotaph at the Sleeman Centre.

Our mayor and all elected officials need to do better. At the very least have a wreath ceremony at 11 a.m. at the correct location rather than creating these made for TV moments.
