13-unit Minto apartment building extensively damaged by fire

TOWN OF MINTO, ON - On May 4, 2018 at approximately 10:50 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fire at 38 Elizabeth Street, Town of Harriston, Minto.

The fire department along with Guelph Paramedic Services also responded.

The fire started within one unit of the approximately 13-unit building and is not considered suspicious. 

One resident was pulled from the apartment by a bystander and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Damage to the building is extensive and all other residents have been displaced for an unknown amount of time. 

Wellington County Housing and the Town of Minto are making arrangements for alternate housing for these residents.
