34-year-old Cambridge man faces slew of charges after RIDE stop

PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP – On Nov. 16, 2016 at approximately 9:42 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Townline Road and Roszell Road, Puslinch Township. 

A 2002 Ford entered the R.I.D.E. program and officers spoke with a male driver who showed signs that he was impaired by alcohol. 

He was arrested and while searching him, an officer located a prohibited knife. He was brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for testing.

34-year-old David Kennedy of Cambridge has been charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 Mgs, and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code. He is also charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. 

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Dec. 13, 2016. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
