A random act of Christmas kindness on a Guelph trail (4 photos)

A Secret Santa has decorated a small tree along a Guelph trail and encouraged people to be kind to others

The busy holiday season is upon us and the Christmas spirit is alive and well in a very unlikely place.

Someone has decorated a small tree along the trail in Riverside Park, turning it into a random act of kindness.

Frequent walkers in the park know a section of the trail as the 'Bridge to Bridge walk, starting from the east side of the Speed River accessed from Speedvale Avenue bridge toward the bridge at Woodlawn Road.

The beautifully decorated three-and-a-half foot small pine tree is easy to spot just to the left of the path.

Tiny red bows, a set of battery operated colourful lights and a few ornaments adorn this tree in the woods. People are encouraged to take a small present left there.

Underneath the tree lay a few presents marked with a Christmas tag which read, “To: You, From: Secret
Santa.”

A card dangles on the tree in a plastic sleeve marked, “PLEASE READ ME!”

The note, dated Dec. 9, reads as follows:

"To everyone that reads this.

I simply love random acts of kindness and I love Christmas so when I passed this beautiful tiny tree I had an idea.

I had to come back and decorate it! Then I thought to leave couple of presents because ‘Tis the season for giving. If you receive one please consider doing a little something to pay it forward.

I hope this brings delight to all who happen to notice it.

I send best wishes to you and hope you have safe, healthy and happy holiday season.

Take a sticker if you like and spread the joy of the season.

Be as kind as you can be, the world needs it!

Peace Be With You

Secret Santa

P.S. I will clean up the decorations after the holidays

P.S.S. I did not have a tree topper to fit this tree, if you do, please add it. You can also add decorations."
