All schools closed today; some power outages reported this morning

All schools in both the Upper Grand District School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board are closed Monday due to the inclement weather.

Roads remained slick and slushy early in the morning.

The offices of both school boards are also closed.

The boards made the call around 6 a.m.

Hydro One reports that roughly 1,400 customers are without power starting on the southern fringe of Guelph, south of Clair Road, and extending down to Highway 401 and a separate area west of the city in Puslinch and Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Guelph Hydro reported a small outage along Watson Parkway, between Eramosa Road and Highway 7.

As of 6:30 a.m. they were working to restore power.

The University of Guelph remains open, but weather-related deferrals for those with exams scheduled are available.

All Conestoga College campuses are closed.

Gueph is under a significant rainfall warning today, with 20mm to 30mm expected.

Temperatures hovered around 0 C at 6 a.m. and were expected to rise to 5 C during the day.
