An award-winning journalist whose stories include the investigative series Unfounded about how police across Canada have dealt with sexual assault allegations is coming to Guelph next week to speak about her new project.

On Nov. 19, Globe and Mail reporter Robyn Doolittle will be in Guelph to speak about her current book Had It Coming: What’s Fair in the Age of #MeToo?

The book examines rape culture, slut shaming, the Jian Ghomeshi scandal, as well as how police and the courts deal with women who report being sexually assaulted.

Joining Doolittle on stage will be Jessica St. Peter of Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis.

Doolittle was the lead reporter for the Globe and Mail’s Unfounded series, which led to a reassessment by police departments across the country on how they deal with sexual assault allegations.

Her reporting was also instrumental in exposing the secret life of former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. Her book about the subject, Crazy Town, won the Kobo Emerging Writer Prize. Doolittle was named Journalist of the Year in 2017 by the Canadian Centre for Journalism.

The book launch will be held at the eBar on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for Bookshelf members and are available in advance or at the door.
