Big party again on Chancellors Way (7 photos)

Thousands gather to party on Saturday afternoon for the second consecutive year

Thousands of students partied on Chancellor's Way near Stone Road Mall Saturday afternoon for the second straight year.

Police, paramedics and private security were all on hand and a preliminary plan was in place. Police for the most part stayed to the fringe of the closed-off road and dealt with the more serious incidents as they arose.

Across Edinburgh Road, some residents of a nearby apartment building brought out lawn chairs to watch the event unfold.

Students started gathering around noon and the numbers swelled as the Gryphon football game ended in the late afternoon.

Guelph Police Chief Jeff DeRuyter tweeted around 8 p.m. that the part had dispersed and that a cleanup was underway.
