GUELPH - Dave Gunning takes audiences on a captivating journey that features heartfelt stories, humorous lyrics and stunning musical arrangements.

The celebrated east coast singer-songwriter will showcase his finely crafted songs during a performance at River Run Centre on Friday, Mar. 31, at 8 p.m. The Co-operators Hall performance is presented as part of the Borealis Music Series.

An engaging folk-roots performer and world-class songwriter, Gunning has enjoyed a 20-year career that includes 11 albums.

Since releasing his debut recording, Lost Tracks, in 1996, Gunning's body of work has earned him admiration and respect from music fans and fellow musicians, including Canadian folk songwriting legends David Francey, Ron Hynes and James Keelaghan.

“An artist as compelling, as assured and attentive to every nuance of the writing process as Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn and Stan Rogers before him,” the Toronto Star said in a review.

Known for creating poetic songs well-suited to his gentle and expressive vocal style, Gunning has become a fixture on the folk festival and club circuit across North America. His latest album, Lift, features a unique acoustic sound brought to life in his home studio in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

During an impressive career, Gunning has won eight East Coast Music Awards, two Canadian Folk Music Awards and earned a 2012 Juno Award nomination in the Roots and Traditional Solo Album of the Year category for his recording A Tribute to John Allan Cameron, which pays homage to one of Gunning's Maritime musical heroes.

A fervent hockey fan, Gunning also won CBC’s 2014 Hockey Night in Canada Song Quest for the song A Game Goin’ On, co-written by David Francey.

Over the course of two decades, Gunning has grown to become a truly masterful songwriter and performer. His River Run Centre performance offers Guelph music fans the chance to witness the work of an authentic East Coast artist at his creative peak.

Tickets to see Dave Gunning cost $29 for adults and $27 for seniors and students. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID.
