Both the Upper Grand District School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board will participate in strikes this week as tensions between unions and the province escalate.

Elementary teachers and occasional teachers in the UGDSB represented by the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) will take part in a one-day strike on Tuesday as part of the union’s planned rotating strike.

They will also participate in a one-day province-wide strike on Thursday. That strike includes all 83,000 ETFO members in the province.

Secondary schools in the UGDSB will not be affected by the strikes.

The WCDSB — represented by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA)— will engage in a one day, province-wide, full withdrawal of services on Tuesday, that affects both elementary and secondary schools in the board.

This one-day, full withdrawal of services is in addition to the strikes that began on January 13 and will proceed until a deal has been reached.
