7:28 a.m. update:

The victim of last night's fatal shooting is listed on the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce website and several hotel review sites as general manager of the Comfort Inn Hotel on Silvercreek Parkway North where police say the incident took place.

On March 1, 2016 at approximately 4:39 p.m., emergency services personnel attended to the Comfort Inn Hotel located at 480 Silvercreek Parkway North, Guelph in response to a shooting incident.  

Upon arrival, hotel employee Aly Sunderani (35 years) was located near the front entrance suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was treated at the scene and transported to the Guelph General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The person(s) responsible for this homicide remain at large.  

Police believe this was a targeted incident and do not believe there is a risk to the general public at this time.

Investigators are interested in identifying a small black sport utility vehicle (SUV) seen leaving the area shortly after the incident.

Investigators are canvassing the area and are requesting that anyone in the vicinity of this incident with vehicles equipped with video recording equipment contact the Guelph Police Service.

This investigation is ongoing and the Guelph Police Service is requesting that anyone with information in relation to this investigation contact Detective Constable Brian Welsh at 519-824-1212 Ext. 7345 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
