Emergency crews are on the scene of an explosion that happened at a home on Southcreek Trail

Emergency crews are on the scene of an explosion that happened at a home on Southcreek Trail in the city's south end.

The explosion happened around 1 p.m. A Guelph Police spokesperson said the explosion is believed to be gas related.

Staff Sgt. Gill of Guelph Police said one female was transported to hospital with what are not believed to be serious injuries.

Enbridge Gas is on scene.

A portion of Southcreek Trail, which is a cul-de-sac off Edinburgh Road, just south of Kortright Road, is closed off.

A city bus is parked in the nearby Kortright Plaza parking lot for anyone that needs shelter until they can return to their home.

Police are not releasing the exact address at this time.
