NEWS RELEASE
WELLINGTON CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

The Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) is pleased to announce that Michael (Mike) Glazier will be stepping into the role of Director of Education on Sept. 1, 2020. The rigorous executive search process supported by Promeus resulted in the appointment of Mr. Glazier by the board of trustees.

Glazier will be replacing outgoing Director Tamara Nugent, who announced her retirement in January.

“The board of trustees is very excited to welcome Mike into his new role,” commented Marino Gazzola, Board Chair. “During his five years at Wellington Catholic, Mike has proven himself to be a leader grounded in compassion, hard work and an unwavering commitment to our faithbased education system.”

“It is an honour to have this opportunity to serve,” reflected Glazier. “I am proud of the work the board is undertaking and look forward to building upon the many successes of Director Nugent and continuing to support the academic and faith development of our students. I hope to serve the Wellington Catholic community well and am committed to working with our trustees, staff, students, families and parish partners in support of our shared goal of excellence in Catholic education.”

Glazier holds B.A. and B.Ed. degrees from the University of Windsor and a M.Ed. from Charles Sturt University, Australia. In 2017, he completed the Executive Leadership Program from the Rotman School of Management. Glazier brings a wealth of education and life experience to his new role.

Before working at WCDSB, he was a principal and superintendent of education with the London District Catholic School Board. Previous to that, Glazier taught in both elementary and secondary schools and was a curriculum support teacher. Glazier’s faith has guided his professional career and community leadership. He serves on the leadership council of the Guelph Wellington Local Immigration Partnership, the Career Education Council and is an active member of his parish family serving as a Eucharistic Minister.

“This leadership transition is moving the board from strength to strength,” commented Gazzola. “Wellington Catholic is indebted to outgoing director Tamara Nugent for the vision, commitment and faith she led the board with. She has been a gift to our Wellington Catholic community and will be instrumental in supporting a seamless transition in leadership as our team prepares for school reopening.”
