CBC declares Longfield winner in Guelph

With 55 of 247 polls counted, he has a lead of 1,800 votes over the next closest candidate

The CBC is calling Liberal Lloyd Longfield as the winner for the Guelph riding.

As of 11 p.m. Longfield had 42 per cent of votes cast with 55 of 247 polls counted. He had 3,400 votes, almost 1,950 more than Conservative Ashish Sachan.

It would be the third straight election win for the 64-year-old  Longfield.

In the 2019 election Longfield garnered 40.36 per cent (30,497) of the local vote.

In 2015 Longfield got 49.1 per cent (34,303) of the local vote.

Guelph has been a Liberal riding since 2008.
