The City of Guelph is celebrating great drinking water with a series of engaging events in March. From games at Guelph Public Libraries to entertainment and interactive displays at the annual H2O Go Festival, there’s lots to discover and good fun to be had by people of all ages.

“In Guelph, we’re fortunate to have such a high-quality supply of drinking water coming from deep underground,” says Steve Yessie, Water Conservation Program Coordinator at the City. “But groundwater takes time to replenish and we all need to use it responsibly. This is why we continue to promote and celebrate wise water use in Guelph.”

The City’s water efficiency strategy helps the Guelph community use less water. Since 2006, water conservation efforts by Guelph residents and businesses, and the City itself, have resulted in over $40 million in savings from water infrastructure projects the City has not yet needed to build and operate to provide new water supply.

“Our community has shown amazing commitment to using water responsibly. The number of residents and businesses that participate in our water-saving programs—like Healthy Landscapes and Blue Built Homes—grows every year,” noted Yessie. “Guelph is proud of its tap water. What better way to celebrate our drinking water than by coming together to learn more about it and sharing our experiences?”
