TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wellington County Detachment have amended the criminal charge against a 14-year-old male student that was involved in an incident on Oct. 7, 2021 at the Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS).
As a result of further investigation, the charge of assault has been amended to assault with a weapon.
On Oct. 7, 2021, police responded to the school in regards to an assault in progress. It was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two students where a weapon was used.
A 14-year-old Fergus resident was charged contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph.
