Charges laid in historical sexual assault investigation

A 41-year-old faces charges for the incidents, which took place over a four-year period

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - At the beginning of May, 2021 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) uniform officers and the OPP Crime Unit commenced an investigation into a report of a series of historical sexual assaults that occurred in the Township of Wellington North over a four year period. 

Investigation revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted on several occasions between January 2017 and April 2021. The accused and victim were known to each other.

As a result, a 41-year-old resident of Wellington North Township has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.
