It’s not just people that live in the Royal City that that love our made-in-Guelph beer.

Travel site Expedia.ca has named Guelph the third best beer town in the country in its annual Best Beer Towns In Canada listing.

“How many awards can a town of 120,000 win? Guelph has set out to answer that question, and the answer is: a lot," reads the write up.

"This city cleaned up at the 2018 Ontario Brewing Awards, so we’ll just give you the highlights. Wellington Brewery’s golds included Country Dark Ale and Rhubarb Saison, while Royal City Brewing Co. won gold for a refreshing Oktoberfest (they also won bronze at CBAC for the Belgian-style Dubbel). Guelph is in the running for “best beer names,” too. Double Trouble Brewing Co. has Hops & Robbers IPA and Grow a Pear cider, while Brothers Brewing Company makes Tropic Thunder Pale Ale and Space Beer. We’re intrigued.”

Vancouver was the top beer town and Penticton, B.C., second, according to the rankings.

Expedia uses three categories in choosing its rankings: the number of breweries and brew pubs in the town, the number of awards those breweries and brewpubs have won and originality in flavours and branding.
