Already buzzing with activity, the Gardens at the Church of the Apostles' is hosting a new event this summer.

The Church of the Apostles' Helper Bees have announced a free four week concert series at the church gardens on 86 Glasgow St. N. Each show will be held on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Starting July 21, the Church of the Apostles' Helper Bees welcomes four musicians and musical duos to perform; Brenda Lewis and Gayle Ackroyd, CJ Cooper, David Sait and Jill Francis and Lexi Pham. The concert series wraps up on Aug. 11.

Concert organizer, Kate Nixon, said the concert will be free and wheelchair accessible. No pre-registration is required.

"All that is required is a lawn chair or a blanket to make yourself comfortable," said Nixon in a release. "Everyone is welcome."

“The church currently has food trucks on Thursday nights and many people are using the gardens to eat and relax. We thought the concerts would be a welcome addition for those folks and for the neighbourhood," said Helper Bees coordinator, John Dennis in the release.

Nixon adds the church sees itself as part of the local community and neighbours don't have to attend services to be part of the church community.

"The church offers many different programs including a Breakfast Club for GCVI, Living Better on Less, and they prepare meals twice a week for Your Downtown Guelph Friends."
