The city hopes to have the ice skating rink in Market Square opened by Dec. 2, but it's all in the hands of Mother Nature.
City Deputy CAO Colleen Clack said they need five days of sub-zero or near-zero temperatures plus no precipitation in order to build the rink.
She said it's hoped that the rink can be open in time for the annual Christmas tree lighting, which is scheduled for Dec. 2.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to remain above zero for the foreseeable future, with a high of 10 C forecast for Tuesday.
